Walmart Supercenter Approved for Westlake Town Center

A full-size Walmart Supercenter is coming to Westlake, Florida. The City of Westlake granted full approval of the project through Development Order DO_04.07.2026, issued on April 7, 2026. The approvals included the site plan, sign plan, and an alcohol variance — all three required elements for the project to proceed.

What This Means for Westlake Residents

The Walmart Supercenter will be a major addition to Westlake's commercial offerings. Currently, residents must travel to neighboring communities for full-service grocery and general merchandise shopping. A Supercenter in the Westlake Town Center will bring expanded grocery, pharmacy, and general retail options directly to the community.

Westlake's Town Center is also expected to host other major retailers, including Lowe's Home Improvement, for which permit activity was spotted near the Town Center in June 2026.

About Westlake Town Center

Westlake Town Center is the community's primary commercial development zone, located along the Seminole Pratt Whitney Road corridor. It is part of the broader Westlake master-planned community developed by Minto Communities. As Westlake grows — with over 104 single-family building permits valued at $30.8 million in Q2 2025 alone — the Town Center is becoming the commercial anchor of the city.
