Westlake Community Park
Westlake Community Park Phase I is underway — $1.2M funded, bids submitted, and amenities planned along Sycamore Blvd including fishing, monuments, and food truck parking.
Westlake's First Public Community Park Is Taking Shape
For a city that opened its first homes in 2019, Westlake has moved quickly on private amenities — the Adventure Park, the Fieldhouse, padel tennis. But a traditional public park, owned and operated for all residents, has been in the works for years. That's now becoming real.
Westlake Community Park Phase I is the city's first dedicated public park project, planned for a site at Sycamore Blvd & Seminole Pratt Whitney Rd. As of fall 2026, the project has secured $1.2 million in funding and officially gone out to bid — a major milestone that means shovels are getting closer to the ground.
What's Planned for Phase I?
Community Park Phase I is intentionally modest — a first foothold for a larger vision. Based on information from city signals and SID meetings, the planned amenities for Phase I include:
- Fishing access — a key amenity residents have asked for, given the area's canals and waterways
- Monuments — civic landmark elements marking the park as a city gateway or gathering point
- Food truck parking — designated space for the food truck events that have become popular in Westlake
This is a phased project — meaning what opens first won't be the final form. Future phases will expand the park's footprint and add more amenities as funding and planning allow.
How Is It Being Funded?
The City of Westlake secured $1.2 million in state funding for Community Park Phase I. The funding was confirmed during the FY2027 budget process, and the project was formally put out for construction bids in September 2026. Bids were in by the October 2026 SID meeting, putting the project on track to begin construction in late 2026 or early 2027.
The broader park vision — which includes a much larger footprint — had previously faced uncertainty when state budget money was cut. The $1.2M represents a secured, committed piece of funding that allows Phase I to move forward independently of larger state appropriations.
Who Is Running the Project?
The Westlake Community Park is a Seminole Improvement District (SID) capital project. The SID is the infrastructure and services body that manages utilities, roads, and common facilities within Westlake. While the City of Westlake oversees general government functions, the SID handles capital projects like this park.
SID meetings — held regularly and tracked on Westlake Pulse — have been the primary venue where park updates have been reported. The October 2026 SID meeting confirmed that Phase I bids were in and the project was moving forward.
How Does This Fit with Westlake's Other Parks?
Westlake already has Westlake Adventure Park at 5490 Kingfisher Blvd — the $22 million resort-style amenity with a lagoon pool, BMX pump park, basketball courts, and The Lodge. But the Adventure Park is a Minto Communities / Master HOA amenity, available to Westlake HOA members. It is not a general-admission public park.
The Community Park, by contrast, is a public facility. It will be the first park in Westlake that operates outside of the HOA amenity structure — a meaningful distinction for residents and visitors alike.
The Westlake Fieldhouse, planned for the Pines neighborhood along Town Center Pkwy, is a separate project. It will include multi-use sports fields, a community building with a coffee bar, a covered toddler play area, and a relocated dog park. Groundbreaking is targeted for Q1 2027, with an opening target of summer 2028.
